Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Bad Girls, Jacqueline Wilson's eighth title, is read here in unabridged form by Josie Lawrence. It deals lightly but sensitively with the terrible pain suffered by a 10-year-old girl when she becomes the victim of vicious bullying at school. When the over-protected, intelligent Mandy is cast out by her so called girl "friends" at school she takes up with the trendy, cheerful 14-year-old Tanya. Because Mandy reminds Tanya of her much-loved kid sister in care, and because she too is lonely, the two quickly become best friends. But Tanya's unhappy life has made her turn to petty crime and before long Mandy finds herself in deep water. Bad Girls is a delightful and important book, dealing very well indeed with difficult emotional and social issues. The story is presented on three cassettes and runs for four hours and 20 minutes. --Tamsin Palmer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant must read by Jacqueline Wilson, 11 Mar 2002

This review is from: Bad Girls (Paperback)
Another excellent book by Jacqueline Wilson. It is about a girl called Mandy. She is always getting bullied at school one day on her way home she gets hit by a bus. There are lots of different accounts of the incident and her mum wants to find out why her baby was really hurt. Suddenly when things couldn't get any worse a new girl moves in across the road and they become best buddies. Tanya, her new friend, seems to scare the bullies of one day when she comes to meet Mandy after school things seem to good to last and they are. Tanya has a dark secret that she has not told any one which Mandy finds out about by accident. Tanya can only get Mandy out of trouble or can she! I would suggest it to 6 - 12 year olds because it is funny, witty and realistic. This is another must read by this brilliant author

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad Girls by Jacquline Wilson, 20 Nov 2008
A Kid's Review
The story is about Mandy who was bullied in and out of school. Jacqueline Wilson wanted to tell this story to highlight the suffering of the innocent. The main relationship was between Mandy and Tanya who are best friends. The police caught Mandy and Tanya when Tanya went shoplifting. Kim, Melanie and Sarah provoked Mandy to cross the road, she ran into a bus. Mandy's mother told the head teacher, she tried to make things better for Mandy but it was no help as Kim, Melanie and Sarah found other ways of bulling Mandy. I think it is important to say that the book is FANTASTIC! I would recommend this book to children ages 8-11.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad Girls is one of my favourite Jaqueline Wilson books., 26 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Bad Girls is a very pleasurable book to read because each chapter gets more exiting than the last and each chapter ends with an interesting cliff-hanger. The characters are very well described and you can see that Mandy has a great personality and Kim, Sarah and Melanie are just plain bullies. Mandy has been constantly bullied at school by a gang of three girls. Mandy invents a story in a desperate effort to impress the three bullies. She claims that her real parents live far away and that her mum is a top fashion model and that her real name is not Mandy White. Mandy runs in to the road terrified that Kim would go and tell her Mum about what she had just said to the three of them. Then she suddenly gets knocked over by a bus and unexpectedly breaks her arm, and suddenly finds herself being whisked into hospital. While she's off school she meets a great new friend called Tanya who solves all her problems at school and gets her in to trouble out of school. Unfortunately Mum thinks Tanya is an unsuitable friend for Mandy...
And she turns out to be right in a way!!!
